We have people from all walks of life involved in Visionworks! In the first of our series of articles focussing on individual stories, we caught up with Keith Newton who recently performed in A Christmas Carol. This is what he had to say…
“Harbouring a desire to resurrect an interest in acting left behind at school some fifty-seven years ago, it was with trepidation that I approached the director of the company to offer help with their latest production. As it turned out my anxiety proved to have no foundation for the welcome I received from both Paul and subsequently the whole company left me wondering why I’d put off taking that step for so long. There are none among the members of Visionworks lacking in inclusiveness, encouragement or appreciation for effort expended. All are made to feel as though their contribution is valued and that their gifting has a place in the success of the production process. “
“What then a delight it is to be part of this young and vibrant company. What a delight to discover so many people engaged in making Visionworks what it is and, collectively, owning the imagination of what it will be. A new lease for the elderly and a marvellous springboard upon which the younger members can propel themselves into the wonderful career that is, entertaining. “
Keith Newton joined Visionworks after an appeal at Cosham Baptist Church for support with A Christmas Carol. He offered to make tea and shift some props around and ended up playing the Jolly Ghost of Christmas Present!
